Hamden Driving School offers a convenient class schedule to fit every student's need - adults and teens alike. Our rolling enrollment allows students to jump in when they are ready to begin the important task of learning how to be a skillful and safe driver.
Our school employs state certified instructors from the Connecticut Department of Education, professional driving instructors licensed by the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles and professional educators who hold advanced degrees in their fields. All of our dynamic instructors exceed the state's minimum licensing requirements. We even have instructors who speak Spanish.
Classes are taught in a fun, interactive manner. All learning styles are incorporated into each lesson which follows a curriculum that is second to none. Classes will consist of lecture, individual and group work, multi-media presentations, videos, guest speakers and even a game or two.
Class topics will include: introduction to the alcohol problem, physiological and psychological effects of alcohol on the driving task, Connecticut alcohol laws, nature of alcohol related crashes, dealing with driver fatigue, preventing road rage, developing good driving habits, highway driving, driving under adverse conditions and handling emergencies, interacting with other vehicle types, managing high risk locations including intersections and curves, risk management, restraint systems, perceptual skills development, basic control tasks, roadway design and markings, parking maneuvers, analysis of crashes, space management, night driving, winter driving techniques, natural laws, highway transportation system, structure of the driving task, Connecticut motor vehicle laws and regulations, interacting with police officers, starting, moving and stopping your vehicle, collisions and insurance.
